Sham Shui Po is still Sham Shui Po

  • Amongst the Sham Shui Po residents are dedicated artisans and craftsmen, creating handcrafted goods and services in the community. Fortunately, these remaining industries have been passed down by previous generations and preserved by current artisans. Although some of the traditional crafts may soon disappear, their stories tell of the history and transformation within the area. They provide inspiration for the new generation of craftspeople to innovate and re-invent these specialised crafts. Visit a neighbourhood known as 'The Shopping Destination' where creative types, amateurs and professionals alike can source all kinds of materials and tools. Take the MTR and make your way to Tai Nan Street. There you will find new and old leather stores, intermixed with lifestyle workshops nearby that have injected new creative energy into this neighbourhood.

Thanks to the artisans, there is the opportunity to choose craft products that are authentic, high-quality, and user-friendly. In today's commercialised society, the traditional community-based links can only be kept if we appreciate the decades-old traditions and local craft culture that we were once proud of.
